Homeschool

As you probably know, Emmy and London were both diagnosed with dyslexia this past year and I've since been trying to learn more about it and understand how to best help them learn.  They've been attending private tutoring lessons for many months now and making progress, but school has been a challenge for them.  They both need accommodations made in the classroom which we tried in London's class in the spring. Honestly, although all parties had the best intentions, it was difficult.  And stressful - for London and for me.

Dyslexia, in case you haven't heard my stock speech, is not just about flipping your letters or having difficulty reading.  It's a disorganization in the way the brain processes information.  Emmy and London, like most dyslexics, are extremely smart, but because information has to bounce around in their brain before arriving at the correct processing center, it takes them longer to learn information.

Anyways, all this is to say that after much thought and prayer, we decided it would be best to home school the dynamic duo this year.  It took me a while to commit to the decision, mainly because I was being selfish and a little fearful of how I would accomplish this daunting task, but after I knew it was the right thing in my heart, I jumped in and got busy setting up a home school room.  The kids were eager to see it, but I kept it a surprise until the night before school started (mainly because it wasn't ready until then...)

Checking out their new classroom!
