Day 3 - Lyme Park

Wednesday was another beautiful day for November in England so after running around in the morning doing a bit of shopping and things, Sandra, Nicole and I headed back to Lyme Park for another hike.  This time we headed up through the back of the grounds to the old Shepherd's cottage.  Could there be anything more picturesque???

It took an old man who was hiking past us a very long time to get this one photo!

Beautiful English countryside

Love this one of Nicole and Sandra

These two are some of my favorite photos of the trip.  Lyme Park holds so many fond memories for me and I love the beautiful light.

Shortly after we got back to Sandra's, Dean, my cousins fiance, came to pick Nicole up and take her down to Emma's.  I'll be driving myself down on Friday.

Wednesday evening, Sandra took me over to Sally and Alex's house in Poynton where we went to see a bonfire and fireworks.  November 5th in England is "Bonfire Night" - I believe it is a celebration of the failed attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament by a man named Guy Fawkes in the early 1600s.  They used to burn his effigy on the bonfire, although our bonfire did not include a hanging, burning man (thankfully).  I unfortunately don't have any photos from the night, but just imagine a huge bonfire with fireworks.

After the bonfire, we went back to Sally and Alex's house for dinner.  I had requested fish and chips from the Strawberry Pig in Poynton village which Alex quickly agreed to.  Last summer when we visited, we had the same good, but not for you, dinner. :)  Thank you, Alex, for my fish and chips fill for another year...
