July 4th

After Nicole, Brian and Hailey left for the drive home, Grammie, the cousins and I headed over to the Plantation house for a July 4th parade and carnival.  It was a great, family-friendly event with lots of games (like a dunk booth, bouncy house, photo booth), food (cotton candy anyone?) and competitions (Cannon really wanted to enter the pie-eating contest but it was full).

Posing for the photo booth

The best was the game where you got into a blow up booth with a fan blowing and had to try to grab as many tickets as you could.  Emmy went in first and scooped up 3 tickets (a net loss as the game cost 6 tickets).  London went in next and scooped up 8 tickets (a slight profit) and then Hannah went in and went nuts shoving tickets down her shirt for storage!  She ended up with probably 40 tickets and 2 dollar bills!  This set us up for the rest of the day to spend freely on games, food and bake sale items!

I love this picture - I guess the alligator in the lagoon (looks like a log floating in the water) wanted to also join in the 4th of July celebrations!

The rest of the 4th we spent in typical fashion - avoiding the extreme heat, BBQing and watching fireworks over the Callibogue sound.  Welcome back to the USA!
