Summer fun in Hilton Head

Somehow, with the move and all, I temporarily lost my desire to write blog posts.  But I've now realized that I miss my blog.  I miss chronicling the fun we have, the good times and the bad, and now I feel re-commited to the blog.  But that does leave me with a little over a month to catch up on...

So this post will be a catch up effort, mainly pictures, just to show that we are alive and well and still living life to the fullest!

Yes, during my hiatus, the kids and I have been camping at Grammie and Grandpa's house in Hilton Head enjoying warm sunny days and lots of outside activities.  The kids used the pool almost every day (well, until London got an ear infection).

And we went to the beach with Grammie.

And we convinced Grandpa to get his boat fixed up and went for a ride.

Teaching London to drive
And Grammie took the kids putt-putt golfing and to the library and to the shops at Coligny.

And London and I went on bike rides, we all went on walks to the boardwalk and Dolphin head, and Dad introduced me to yoga on Saturdays!

And we watched all the wildlife around - like alligators, ospreys, bald eagles, egrets, herons and dolphins.

And London tried his hand at fishing in the lagoon and reeled in a good sized large mouth bass (all by himself!)

I had to call Grandpa out to take it off the hook!
And London and Emmy went to Vacation Bible School one week and a summer camp in the plantation another week.

And we all helped to harvest Grandpa's figs which were a bumper crop.

We took one short trip to Savannah for the day to shop, go to Bass Pro and have dinner.  London and Cannon went on another special trip, but that will be another post.

When the weather got too hot outside, we had lots of indoor fun.  Grandpa had the intentions of learning how to computer program with Cannon so bought a Lego Mindstorm (Lego's programmable robotics design).  Cannon was chomping at the bit to get his hands on the thing and so after only a day, Grandpa gave up on teaching Cannon and let Cannon teach himself!  He made lots of cool creations like a cash register scanner, a "shooterbot", and an alligator that bites if you get too close.

Grandpa bought London a model of an aircraft carrier that they worked on together (as well as Cannon).  It's a beautiful replica of the Ronald Reagan and London loves it dearly.  Sometimes you'd catch the two of them up in Grandpa's studio with Grandpa busily working on the model and London busily working on a painting of a bald eagle.  Grandpa was also giving art lessons to him.  The bald eagle turned out great and is ready to be hung in London's new room.

Emmy also decided that she wanted to paint a picture.  Grandpa had bought her a kind of paint-by-numbers type canvas with a picture of a horse but she decided she wanted to paint a picture of a border collie instead (the girl knows what she wants!).  They had lots of fun picking out the photo to copy and then my dad sketched it on the canvas and advised Emmy how to paint it.  They were a pair working on that with lots of laughter coming from the studio.  So she ended up with a fantastic painting for her new room.

Emmy and London also had lots of fun playing with the "antique" toys that my mom has kept from when Nicole and I were growing up.  And Emmy and London got their dog fix by loving on Sadie...

Aunty Nicole and her family visited too - but I'll write about that in another post.

All in all, I'd say we had a pretty good time!
