Emmy and London had field day today and it was a fun time. The weather was a little cool and overcast in the morning, but it turned out sunny and beautiful by lunch time. This year I volunteered for the 50 yard dash - to time it, not to run it! London spent a good portion of his morning running the dash, to the point where a day or two later his legs are still cramping. His best time was 7.64 seconds. Pretty quick if you ask me! Unfortunately, because I was timing, I didn't get any pictures of the races. :( Stevie came by for a while to help time too, but he was coming off a call shift and was pretty tired so he ended up going home after a while.
After lunch and a cool down break is the best part of the day: Peel the Snake and the Tug-of-War. I went home and "made" Stevie come back to watch these events as they are so much fun to watch.
In the Peel the Snake, all the classes in a grade race each other to lay down each child in a line while the child behind runs over the prostrate classmates and then laying down themselves. When the last child lays down, he/she then pops up and straddle-runs back over the classmates until the "snake" is completely "peeled". It's really fun. Here's Emmy's class demonstrating:

Then there is the tug-of-war and these little guys take it seriously. London and Emmy's class both had won their first match so they had to do it again with the third class in their grade. Fortunately, they both won those matches too!
